About the Role Our firm is partnering with a leading national retailer operating at scale across stores and supply chain facilities to support a critical operations initiative. This Operations Support role sits within a waste minimization and sustainability-focused team and plays a key role in keeping essential service programs running smoothly. The position focuses on operational execution, vendor coordination, and issue tracking rather than traditional large-scale project delivery.
This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment and enjoys bringing structure, follow-through, and clarity to day-to-day work.
Job Description The Operations Support role will support daily operations tied to waste and recycling programs across a large retail and distribution network. You will manage service requests, coordinate with third-party vendors, and partner with field teams to help reduce waste, control costs, and maintain reliable operations.
Key Responsibilities - Manage day-to-day service requests related to waste programs, including trash, recycling, and cardboard balers
- Coordinate with external vendors on pickups, repairs, onboarding, and issue resolution
- Track, monitor, and follow up on open requests to ensure timely and effective completion
- Review basic operational data to identify trends, gaps, and potential cost drivers
- Serve as a point of support for field teams by answering questions and assisting with troubleshooting
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and program data
- Identify and escalate recurring issues or operational risks to core team members
- Support continuous improvement through attention to process discipline and root-cause problem solving
Qualifications Required - Strong organizational skills with consistent follow-through
- High attention to detail and commitment to process discipline
- Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities simultaneously
- Clear and professional communication skills when working with vendors and field teams
- Basic data skills, including Excel-based tracking and simple analysis
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on identifying root causes
- Comfort working with external service providers and operational partners
- Bias for action and ownership in day-to-day execution
Preferred - Experience with work order or asset management systems (e.g., IBM Maximo or similar)
- Familiarity with Smartsheet or similar workflow/tracking tools (training available if needed)
- Prior experience supporting operational, facilities, or service-based programs in a retail, supply chain, or multi-site environment
