Job Description & Skill Requirement:
Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or a relevant field.
15+ years of experience in electrical wire harness and/or power distribution components design and release, and relevant automotive assignments, covering all phases of product development (design, test, and launch).
5+ years of experience designing specific EDS components including shields, troughs, grommets, connectors & terminals, and power distribution components.
Strong technical skills and expertise in wire harness component design and release, employing a six-sigma approach to engineering design and problem-solving.
Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field.
Ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels.
Be responsible for the design of all EDS components including shields, troughs, grommets, connectors & terminals, and power distribution components. You will cover from clean sheet of paper through virtual development, testing/sign-off and manufacturing launch for Scout all-electric pick-up and rugged SUVs.
Work with Purchasing and Finance counterparts to develop technical specifications in support of the quoting and sourcing process for components under your control.
Develop and maintain a standard library of core EDS components aligned with global VW group owners that can be used in the design of EDS wiring and power distribution systems.
Work with key VW Group module owners, and suppliers to define and release all EDS and power distribution components.
Be part of a diverse team fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, promoting continuous learning and professional development among team members.
Perform virtual and physical verification testing, including field testing.
Ensure designs conform to safety standards and U.S. government regulations.
Proactively stay attuned to consumer experience and propose system improvements accordingly.
Contribute to the design of production facilities for Scout trucks & SUVs.
Manage supplier resources efficiently to deliver component designs that meet cost, timing, and quality targets.
